Blue for a Day and Healthier Skin for a Lifetime: OBAGI Blue Peel
When it comes to your skin, there are many reasons to get the blues— blemishes, acne scars, wrinkles, uneven pigmentation and sun damage, to name a few. If you want healthier, smoother-looking skin, there is a way to dramatically improve your complexion in just a day: the OBAGI Blue Peel®. This revolutionary procedure uses a patented mix of slow-acting trichloracetic acid and a unique blue base that is applied by your provider over about 20 minutes, during which time you will experience a slight burning sensation for a few minutes. Once the treatment is complete, your skin will retain a blue tint for up to one day and will slightly swell and begin peeling within a few days after the procedure, which will end after about 10 days. This peel is designed to lift older skin from the applied surface, causing the skin to appear tighter, smoother, and more youthful. In addition to the face, the Blue Peel® can even be performed on the neck, chest, hands, back, arms and legs. And unlike alpha-hydroxy peels or other superficial procedures, the Blue Peel® allows your doctor to control the depth of the peel and the number of coats applied, providing you with a process more tailored to your skin’s specific needs.
“PCA Professional™ Chemical Peel Treatments
Physicians Care Alliance (PCA) Professional chemical peel treatments are designed to improve and enhance the skin’s appearance. These patented and proven light-to-medium peel formulas effectively exfoliate, bleach and inhibit pigment production. By cleansing the surface of the skin during the application of the chemical peel, these peels help to repair and reduce breakouts, control oil, soften lines and provide a more even, smooth skin texture. PCA peels are lighter and affect only the epidermis, requiring less down time and causing reduced skin irritation and discomfort as compared to other peels. These noninvasive treatments typically take only 30 minutes to perform, and leave a slightly pink post-procedure glow, after which peeling occurs for three-to-five days. The result is hydrated, rejuvenated, beautiful skin, and PCA peel exfoliating treatments are available in the following formulas:
- PCA Peel HQ Free Exfoliating Treatment
- PCA Peel with Hydroquinone Exfoliating Treatment
- PCA Peel with Hydroquinone & Resorcinol Exfoliating Treatment
- Ultra Peel I and II Exfoliating Treatments
- Ultra Peel Forte Exfoliating Treatment
- Sensi Peel Exfoliating Treatment
- Esthetique Peel
- Clarifying Mask
- Detox Gel for Oily/Problem Skin
- Detox Gel for Normal/Sensitive Skin

These treatments vary in terms of patient skin type and skin issues to be addressed, including how sensitive your skin is and if you are attempting to treat acne, wrinkles, lines or other factors. For many patients, PCA chemical peel treatments are applied every few weeks for optimal results; meet with our skin care specialists to determine which treatment is right for you!
Physician-Administered Medium-to-Deep Peels
Cedar Valley ASCENT also offers aggressive treatments to help patients achieve more dramatic results. These treatments include glycolic acid, TCA and Phenol physician-administered medium-to-deep peels that penetrate the skin more deeply than other commercial peels. During the procedure, these chemical solutions create a slight burning sensation for around 10 minutes, followed by a stinging feeling, which indicates that new skin is being brought to the surface. While some people may tolerate this type of peel in the office setting, they are most often done as an anesthetized surgical procedure under the care of an experienced specialist. These deeper peels can require up to 14 days of recovery, during which a prescribed ointment is kept on the treated area at all times. As new skin emerges it is finer and free of many wrinkles, pigment spots and many signs of aging, improving the signs of premature aging.
